VG. ** Reverend Cornelius Whur (1782 1853), was a Wesleyan minister who lived in Norfolk. His first volume of verse, entitled Village Musings and Religious Subjects, was published in 1837. It must have been popular with his congregation, as it went through three editions. Such was public demand for more of the same that he produced a second book, called "Gratitudes Offering", in 1845 and the "Village Garland" in 1848. *** Family history records show: "Joseph Thackeray was born 14 Mar 1805 in Burnham, Berkshire and died 26 Sep 1880 in St Faith's, Norfolk ....The Rectory building dates from 1847 and was erected by Joseph Thackery, Rector of Horstead from 1846 to 1880. **** Subscriber's list at the rear includes: T.
