12th Edition ( date of publication from Preface ). with all 18 illustrations as called for. 16mo. 6.50" x 4.25" x 1.00". pp.414. Original gren blind stamped boards. Gilt image of a sailing ship to the front board (rubbed). Spine with gilt title and further illustrations of a Bread-fruit and tree (also a little rubbed). Original yellow endpapers (lightly soiled). Gift dedication to front free-endpaper: "Banford School, 1869. Lucy Skelcher Prize for sewing." Light foxing to page edges title and last leaf , otherwise clean English text throughout. Printed title continues: "Published under the direction of the Committee of General Literature and Education appointed by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge." Colophon to verso of the title-page: "London: Printed By Spottiswoode And Co., New-Street Square And Parliament Street". Preface dated: "London, July, 1860." A well preserved copy of this interesting book.
